The Ministry of Health has issued guidelines to all employers on how to transition workers from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), under the Social Health Authority (SHA).

The ministry announced in a public notice that, as of 1st October, 2024, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) will become the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), in efforts to ensure comprehensive Universal Health Coverage.

Therefore, it is required by law for all Kenyan residents, including dependents, to register as SHA members on or before 30th September 2024.
